Our Central America Roadtrip – Let the adventure begin!
We decided long time ago, that after finishing our bachelor’s degree in March 17, we wanted to do some kind of epic roadtrip. By we, I mean me and my roommate Anselm, aka Hans.
Since we are both travelers, we’ve seen some parts of this beautiful world already. I spent one semester abroad in Long Beach, California in 2015. Hans in the meantime went to Bangkok, Thailand during that time. For this trip, we wanted to visit countries that we’ve both never seen before.
So here came the decision to travel around Central America! Our route includes Mexico, Cuba, Panama and Ecuador. Once we decided to go to Mexico, this thought popped up in my head: I wanted to go back to California sooo bad, since I truly found my happy place here and was dying to come back soon. That’s when we decided to start it all off with a week in California and make our way to Mexico from there, and – here we are!
Goodbye Germany – hello Southern California
We started our trip on June 30, 2017 at Munich airport and made our way from there to London, and then to LAX – the International Airport of Los Angeles!
We got to take our flight with an Airbus 380, which was an AWESOME experience! I’ve never seen such a big plane before ever.

We were flying with British Airways, and I can say they’re pretty awesome. Super friendly and polite, good food and free drinks including red wine from Argentina! This wine truly helped me sleeping over 5 hours in that plane, since we got a bit tipsy :D
After 12 hours of really comfortable flying, we finally arrived at LAX and the advenure began!
Our week in Long Beach was awesome!
I took Hans to all my favorite places in Long Beach on the first day, including the beach of course, In n Out Burger, The Marina in Long Beach, Signal Hill.... the list goes on.
My favorite in California; In N Out Burger with Animal Fries (you can find them on the secret menu), July 1st, 2017
I loved meeting Yarina again - my landlord when I was in Long Beach in 2015. She took us to IHOP and afterwards up on Signal hill, which was awesome :)

The 2nd day, we decided to do the whole tourity Los Angeles experience! So we hopped on the metro, went to LA Downtown and took an Uber from there to get to the starting point of the Hollywood sign hike. It was an amazing experience! Even though I did it 3 times already, it's still stunning to have the view over the city of angels. The wheater was suuuuper hot but still...totally worth the sweating!
Hans and me up in the Hollywood hills, happy to have accomplished the hike, July 2nd, 2017
Afterwards we took a Starhome tour through the Hollywood Hills, Beverly hills and Rodeo drive. I know, it's touristy af, but a fun experience!
The next day, we decided to get some rest and have a full da by the beach. So we took an Uber to my favorite beach on earth: Huntington beach! It's dreamlike as always! White sand, blue water, crazy and lovely people and music - what else could you wish for!

Then 4th of July came up - Independence day
We had the best experience! Since we stayed at Elizabeth manor, the house I lived in when I did my semester abroad in Long Beach, we met some other people that were living with us at the house. So, we decided to spend the day together with Spencer who kindly took us all the way up to Santa Monica and Malibu to see the fireworks! It was incredible!

Our last day...
Yep, the week passed by pretty fast...Unfortunately! Not even a week to discover the LA area is not enough, I know, but we wanted to continue our travels and see more countries that we haven't visited so far, so that's the price I had to pay.
We spent the kast day in the Southern Californian sun - oh yeah! A whale watching tour was on the schedule, which was amazing since we saw so many whales and dolphins and got a nice tan on the 3 hour boat ride ;)
In the evening, Yarina took us out for dinner at the Market place - soooo good!
Afterwards we went up to Signal Hill again, and had some emotional moments... Deep talks with my American mum Yarina, music, icecream...it was a perfect night truly!

So, all in all: THANK YOU LONG BEACH! It was an awesome week, many memories were made and I was more than happy to be back at my 2nd home :)
