It's almost over....So we spent our last week on an island!
Last week, we spent some time on Isla San Andres. Despite the bad weather forecast (rain and rain and rain) we had the BEST weather! Sunshine, 30 °C...Simply what you wish for in summer! We chose a nice hostel, which was super cheap and therefore a 10 minute walk from the city center (didn't matter at all) and just relaxed for one week. Luckily, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island was only a 5 minute walk away:
So we spent our days relaxing, working and simply having a holiday :) Was a good contrast to the jungle, and all the sightseeing we did in Bogotá. On two of our days, we rented out some vehicles - first a Golf caddy, then a Quad - and visited some of the places to see in San andres. Well, actually all of them, since the island is only 11 km long, it wasn't hard to go around the whole island several times. One of the places we visited was La Piscinita, a natural pool, where you can snorkel and swim with amazingly colorful fish!
Amazin experience to be so close to them! Afterwards, we found ourselves a nice little beach restaurant where we could eat local Columbian food. And it was delicious! It's called Milanesa, which is comparable to what we call "Wiener Schnitzel" - but the Columbian way. They serve it with fruit bread, which is really great!
All in all, I can say that I loved the island very much. The nature is beautiful, the water crystal clear, the sands are white and the sun is hot. So nothing more you could wish for for a summer vacation. What I didn't like so much is the touristic aspect in the city center but come on: Every vacation place kind of has this. So it didn't do any bad to the great impression I have of San Andres, and I hope I can be back one day!
